Trees
BS 3998 Recommendations for tree work
Recommendations for the planning and undertaking of work relating to safety, sterilization of tools, tree wounds, decay and pruning, bracing, tree nutrition and repair work to roots and bark.
BS 4043 Recommendations for transplanting root-balled trees
Recommends techniques for transplanting trees, including those which have been prepared for transplanting and those which have not.
BS 5837 Trees in relation to construction. Recommendations
Gives recommendations and guidance for the planning and construction processes and those concerned with the care and protection of trees. Includes planning from initial surveys, how to avoid damage to trees during construction work and how to minimise damage to structures and buildings by trees. Also includes a list of organisations to contact for advice, a bibliography and sources of other relevant documents.
Plants
BS 3936-7 Nursery stock. Specification for bedding plants
Applies to the most common ranges of ornamental plants and vegetables grown and sold for planting out directly into open ground.
BS 3936-3 Nursery stock. Specification for fruit plants
Also gives details for specific plants.
Grounds maintenance
BS 7370-2 Grounds maintenance. Recommendations for the maintenance of hard areas (excluding sports surfaces)
Provides recommendations and a checklist for the inspection, maintenance and minor repair of hard areas, including reinstatement after disturbance.
BS 7370-4 Grounds maintenance. Recommendations for maintenance of soft landscape (other than amenity turf)
Describes categories recommending, where possible, maintenance objectives for each category.
BS 7370-5 Grounds maintenance. Recommendations for the maintenance of water areas
Includes an inspection programme, the ways in which water areas are used and legislative aspects. Wetland and tidal areas are excluded.
