Topic areas

Standards play an important role in our daily lives. They are essential to the design and manufacture of many objects, whether these are furniture, toys, bridges or food packaging. They can apply to finished objects to the materials they are made of.

Safety has the highest priority and there are many regulations in place to ensure that new products or equipment adhere to safety Standards.

The topic areas cover some of the most important and interesting Standards. They include:

• background information and information leaflets
• articles
• design and make assignments
• tests
• teachers' notes.

The resources can be used for Engineering, Manufacturing, Applied Science GCSE and Design and Technology GCSE and A Level.
