For teachers
Design and technology, engineering and manufacturing work often involves asking students to produce solutions for real-life problems. This site helps students understand that if their works were to be produced commercially, the application of standards and testing procedures would apply.
For Applied Science students, this site helps them to understand the importance of using standard procedures in laboratories in order to obtain more accurate test results.
The resources in the 14-19 section can be used for:
- Engineering GCSE
- Manufacturing GCSE
- Design and Technology GCSE
- Manufacturing A level
- Design and Technology A level
- Applied Science GCSE
The section is organised by topics and many contain resources for a number of the above qualifications. Resources for the Engineering and the Manufacturing GCSE qualifications consist of articles, design and make assignments, as well as comparative tests based on British Standards and general information on why British Standards are used in product design and manufacturing.
All Product tests, including product testing record sheets and comparative tests can also be accessed separately.
