About this website
Design and technology, engineering and manufacturing work often involves producing designs for real-life problems you might face, or proposing ideas for larger problems. Normally, solutions to the problems you are set would be produced as prototypes in the classroom. However, if they were to be produced commercially the process of standardization would be used. This is to ensure that the end product is consistently safe to use and is reliable. Standards are also used for testing, comparing and identifying substances in science. Other subjects such as Childcare and Business Studies also benefit from knowledge about standards.
The information in this section may help you in your project work, class work, homework, or with exam revision. Included is information and activities that can be used to enhance the quality of your work, particularly in relation to research and product testing.
